Bzučivý výdech: dech, který naslouchá krajině
Takovou pozornost se dá trénovat dechem. Bzučení na výdechu prodlužuje výdech, zklidňuje a vrací pozornost do těla. Navíc ho slyšíte zevnitř, v hrudi i v hlavě.
Nádech nespěchá a nic netlačí.

The Humming Exhale: A Breath That Listens to the Land
🌳 In summer my grandfather would lie on a blanket under an apple tree and listen to the bees. He claimed that the pitch of their humming told him when the weather was about to change. As a child I didn’t believe him. Now I know it wasn’t about forecasting. It was about attention, the kind he could give a single sound for so long that it started telling him things.
That kind of attention can be trained through the breath. Humming on the exhale lengthens the out-breath, calms you and brings your attention back into the body. You also hear it from the inside, in your chest and head. For a while, you become the very sound my grandfather listened to.
Five steps of the humming exhale
🌬️ Practise outdoors or by an open window, ideally standing. The whole exercise takes five to ten minutes.
Stand calmly. Feet hip-width apart, knees softly unlocked, shoulders loose. Imagine the crown of your head being gently drawn upwards.
First, simply listen. For a minute, take in the sounds around you: wind, birds, distant traffic, perhaps insects. Don’t judge anything, just gather the sounds.
Breathe in slowly through your nose into your belly and sides. The in-breath doesn’t hurry and doesn’t push.
On the out-breath, close your lips and let a soft, low hum arise. The exhale is longer than the inhale. Look for a tone that vibrates pleasantly in your chest; it doesn’t need to be loud.
🐝 After five to seven exhales, stop humming and stay in the silence. Listen to the sounds of the land returning. They often seem clearer and closer than at the start.
Don’t strain during the exercise. If you feel dizzy, return to ordinary breathing.
My grandfather’s listening was no magic. It was the patience of a body that knows how to stop. And that patience can be found in every exhale.
